A Guide to Swimming in Ealing

It would seem that finding the right swimming course for you can be quite complicated. Luckily I met up recently with Fred Burley who has recently taken the reins at the Ealing Swimming Club. He spent an hour or so with me explaining how swimming is organised in and around the borough. Key to everything was the following diagram which we used.

Each of the tiers represents stages from beginners at the very bottom moving up towards Team GB at the top!  Now let's look at each of these layers in turn starting at the bottom.

The year is split into 3 terms and we swim 45/46 weeks of the year. We don’t swim in August and for two weeks at Christmas. We do swim in half terms. Each term a swimmer is assessed twice and they receive a written report by email along with an allocation letter for the next term. Information on the structure of each term is on our website.
At stages 1 and 2 plus at the start of term in stage 3 the teachers will be in the water. We also have a Lifeguard on poolside.
