The Ealing Parent Carer Forum present a Parent Information Session on the Mental Capacity Act, including issues around Deputyship /Power of Attourney etc.

If you have not thought of or planned ahead for the time when your child with learning difficulties turns 18 this would be a good session to attend. It is basically about how to ensure you can still be involved in your child's care and affairs once she/he turns 18 because by law your child is then an adult and will be treated as such!

It may sound scary (which is absolutely is!) but the idea is that the more you know about it the easier it is to prepare for it. Not forgetting that it is always easier in the company of other parents in the same situation!

The speaker will be Jacqueline Almond, a solicitor who has come to us highly recommended so hopefully she willl be able to explain it all and answer any questions you may have.

Please feel free to pass this on to anyone you know who might be interested. Anyone can attend, parents or professionals, regardless of whether they are members of the EPCF or not.
