Last Monday Luke and I headed off to Mwnci Studio in Wales with the rest of I Love Thunder and had a very amazing week in one of the most extraordinary places I have ever been to. The studio is on the Dolwilym Estate, one of a group of cottages that survive the mansion house that once stood there. The purpose of the trip was to give us all a bit of time to enjoy each others company, make some music and start to understand the recording process. All of which we acheived. We also managed to fit in some cooking, some yoga, watch School of Rock, get spooked in the farmhouse, hear owls at night, listen to the constant burbling of the River Taff and accompanying birdsong. The rain was a steady companion apart from Wednesday which allowed the sun to reach us briefly.

We got lost on the way to Login - how many people can say that? We were heading there for our Yoga Session with Yogachariya Jnandev. An extraordinary experience, we started off with some exercises, using our chairs for support, we moved on to some relaxation and breathing. By far the most beautiful moment for me was when Eric, when asked how he was feeling, said that he was missing his mum since she died last year. His mum actually died about 15 years ago.

We ran through all our favourite and usual songs. The ones that keep us all happy and learnt a couple of new ones, All or Nothing and Bad Moon Rising. On Thursday we set up the studio to record using headphones. Which was very strange! We didn't overdub, just did everything in single takes. Which is the way we're used to playing. We haven't heard the results yet as Jethro, our engineer, is still doing a bit of tweaking.

Meanwhile Anne and Lily had a very different week as they went off to Ireland for Anne's father's funeral. I won't say anymore here because this isn't the place for that.

I thought I would also mention that the cycling has hit a bit of a wall but we're determined to get back in the saddle soon. I will provide evidence!
