Bercow: Ten Years On

Update on the Bercow Inquiry, regarding children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)

Parents and carers: share your experiences of SLCN support

As part of Bercow: Ten Years On, a review designed to examine support for children and young people with SLCN in England, I CAN and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) are calling for parents and carers to share their views.

The Bercow: Ten Years On project team are inviting parents and carers to contribute in the following ways:

  • By directly completing a short online survey to describe their experiences of support for their child’s SLCN. The survey will close 30 June 2017.
  • Practitioners can support those who would not take part online to share their views using a practical consultation activity.

This inquiry, taking place ten years after the landmark 2008 Bercow Review led by John Bercow MP, is in response to concerns about the support for children and young people with SLCN amid major changes in the education and health system.
